As I See It - Thoughts on Getting Through This Difficult Time, Week 4

Here is my pandemic report card:

Exercise A+

I have been a regular trooper in taking daily walks of 2.4 miles at a pretty good pace.

I am on track with doing my Physical Therapy exercises to strengthen a shoulder injury from Easter of last year.

Social Communication A

It pays off to have a supportive social media community in addition to family and friends.

Preparing for Rona (as I like to call it ) Solid A

Here is the bottom line, if I get Rona, I am on my own, as all of us are who live alone. I started out four weeks ago with no thermometer. They are not easy to get, but I ordered one and it eventually came in. Ditto Acetomenophen, zinc lozenges, food I would have some chance of preparing, and cans of chicken soup (grandmothers are never wrong) . I have been reading about what I might be able to do to fight the virus. Maybe I did not need the Acetomenophen. Ibuprofen is probably just as safe to take. I darn sure will be doing the breathing exercises. Can’t hurt, might help. Ditto on zinc lozenges. I am still waiting for that Ocimeter that measures oxygen levels.

Blog B-

I have to discipline myself, but so far it has not ground to a halt. Truth be told, I feel oddly more connected after I have worked on it, probably because it requires me to reach out to others.

Finding Good Television Shows to Watch A

Thanks to the many providers of network programming that are going above and beyond the call of duty to provide us with things we enjoy watching.

Photography F

I cannot bring myself to take pictures. I can barely look at my archives. I cannot post my pictures except as they are required for the blog. Yesterday, I actually considered giving up photography forever. Well, that is ridiculous.

But this I know, some of the work that photographers are sharing continues to help me. Reason enough to not give up photography.

My favorites this week:

Of course, this is one of my favorites. It features a photo from Hong Kong photographer, May James, who I have watched gain recognition as the world-class photographer that she is.

After last week’s Sunday blog, another photographer encouraged me to check out the Facebook page of Peter Turnley. Peter is an American photojournalist who is known for documenting the human condition and current events. He is in NYC working on a personal project of doumenting the Lockdown. If you are at all drawn to Humans of New York you will find Peter’s Facebook posts compelling.
